You need a permit. Permit on aranyavihaara.karnataka.gov.in only — no walk-ins. About ₹575 per person for the peak trail plus ₹1,000 per group of up to ten for the compulsory guide. Entry closes early in the morning so the walk can be finished by dusk.

The third-highest peak in Karnataka at 1,894 m, named for a ridge profile shaped like a horse's face. A roughly 18 km return trek through rolling grassland and shola forest inside Kudremukh National Park.
